Roadmap to Heaven

How are we saved?
Eph. 2:8-9 for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

What is Grace?
Grace is God's unmerited favor. It is kindness from God we do not deserve. There is nothing we can do, or have done to earn this favor.  It is a gift from God.  Grace is also divine assistance given to aid us and keep us in our Christian walk.

Why we need to be saved
The entrance of Sin into the world.  We were born in sin, condemn:  Rom. 5:12, 15–19, St. John 3:19, Rom 3:8, 5:16, 8:1, I Tim 5:12, Jude 4.

What is Condemnation?
The judicial act of declaring one guilty and worthy of punishment‘Condemn’ and ‘condemnation’ are judicial terms, the opposite of ‘Justify’ and ‘Justification’ (Matt. 12:37; Rom. 5:16, 18).  God alone is the judge of people in His demand for righteousness, sin leads invariably to condemnation and death. We were all born condemned, (i.e. is guilty because of sin - Ps. 51:5).  The mission of Jesus was not to condemn the world but to save it by bearing on the cross the sin that belonged to His people (John 3:17–18).

REPENTANCE is a turning away from sin, disobedience, or rebellion and a turning back to God (Matt. 9:13; Luke 5:32).  In a more general sense, repentance means a change of mind (Gen. 6:6–7) or a feeling of remorse or regret for past conduct (Matt. 27:3). True repentance is a “godly sorrow” for sin (II Corinthians 7:10), an act of turning around and going in the opposite direction, 180 degree.  This type of repentance leads to a fundamental change in a person’s relationship with God.

CONFESSION is an acknowledgment of sins to God. Romans 10:10, for with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

JUSTIFICATION is the process by which sinful human beings is made acceptable to a holy God. (Rom. 5:1).  Christianity is unique because of its teaching of justification by grace (Rom. 3:24).  Justification is God’s declaration that the demands of His Law have been fulfilled in the righteousness of His Son. The basis for this justification is the death of Christ.

WATER BAPTISM - The Greek word for baptism" is "baptisma" while "to baptize" is in Greek "baptizo". Baptizo means "to immerse, cause to be dipped, to submerge, to overwhelm". To baptize something in water means to put it under the water. Therefore in the Biblical sense, to baptize a person in water literally means to put that person wholly under the water.

What is the purpose of Baptism?

  1. 1. To fulfill all righteousness - Matthew 3:15
  2. Burial of the old Adamic nature, that which enslaves us. (Watery Grave – Romans 6:3-4 )
  3. New Covenant Circumcision - Colossians 2:11-12
  4. Marriage ceremony - Romans 6:4-5,  II Corinthians 11:2
