"Transforming the World with a Transformed People"
Greetings in the precious name of Jesus, our soon coming King. There is an old song that comes to mind entitled "The Family of God". The chorus goes:
I'm so glad I'm a part of the family of God,
I've been washed in the fountain, cleansed by His blood!
Joint heirs with Jesus as I travel this sod,
For I'm part of the family, the Family of God
Many church leaders today are forgetting what it means to be a part of the Family of God (body of Christ). Too great an emphasis is placed on the name on the church door and the denomination that one belongs to. Yes, what you believe and practice is very important, but often time we are blinded by our church doctrines and miss what the Bible teaches.
Paul in Romans 12:4-5 says, " For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another".
Again, he speaks in Ephesians 4:4-6, "There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."
We are missing opportunities to be blessed by others in the body (not our denomination), and being a blessing to others in the body. There are people who have repented of their sins, baptized in Jesus name, filled with the Holy Ghost, and living a godly life who are not in our denomination circles, but are a part of the family of God.
Verses 11-13 give little more clarity, "And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;"
He gave gifts to individuals, not just for use in their local church body but for His entire family.
